An attractive head of a terracotta statuette of a goddess, likely from Morgantina in Sicily. The cults of Demeter and her daughter Persephone (kore) were particularly prominent in Magna Graecia, and likely this is a representation of one of these goddesses. Thick hair ornately coiffed, lips pouted, and the traces of the artisan’s fingerprints preserved along the neck.
