Attractive in its simplicity of form and decoration, this hydria’s body (a specialised vessel for carrying water) flares from a flat base and tapers again to a mouth with everted rim. Two horizontal handles project from the body, and one vertically at the rear of the neck. The neck is decorated with an undulating line, while the shoulder is delineated by a straight one; whimsical painted curls at each handle. Buff colored clay, with the understated painted motif emphasizing the virtuoso skill of the potter.
